Join us for dinner and the Jam session at the historic Regency Ballroom!

ISMIR has proven to be a remarkable conference over the past 25 years, and we are eager to commemorate the outstanding research, discussions, and connections that have contributed to the advancement of the MIR community.

The Regency Ballroom hosts awesome concerts, events, and shows featuring artists from around the world every week! This stunning room features blonde hardwood floors, a horseshoe-shaped balcony and a built-in stage. Noted as a fine example of Scottish Rite architecture, which includes neoclassic and beaux arts styles, the Regency Building was built in 1909. The Grand Ballroom is a beaux-art treasure with thirty-five foot ceilings and twenty-two turn-of-the-century teardrop chandeliers.

Headliner: Wil Blades Trio

We are absolutely thrilled and eagerly anticipating the highlight of our conference dinner: the incredible Wil Blades Trio! This exceptionally talented local musician, known for his captivating performances and unique sound, is sure to elevate our celebration to new heights. With a blend of skillful artistry and infectious energy, Wil Blades and his trio will create an unforgettable atmosphere filled with amazing music that will resonate with everyone in attendance. Get ready to be swept away by their dynamic rhythms and soulful melodies as we come together to enjoy a night of camaraderie, inspiration, and, of course, fantastic tunes!

No less a jazz organ authority than the legendary Dr. Lonnie Smith has called Wil Blades “the future,” anointing him the heir apparent to “carry on the legend [and] the legacy of the organ, of the B-3.” Over the past twenty five years, Blades has grown to be one of the most in-demand Hammond organ players, achieving international recognition. In 2017, Blades won Downbeat Magazine’s “Rising Star” critic’s poll for organ, after being nominated every year since 2006. Blades has performed and recorded with a who’s who of legendary musicians including John Lee Hooker, John Scofield, Nicholas Payton, Idris Muhammad, Charlie Hunter, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, Terrace Martin, Melvin Sparks, Joe Louis Walker, Donald Harrison Jr, Karl Denson, Jason Marsalis, Adam Deitch, Stanton Moore and many more.
